2007 Salon Du Cheval
There is no better way for me to end an action packed show year than to be in Paris, for the World Championships, each December. Paris is an amazing city any time of the year but especially glorious near the holiday season. The World Championships are in a fitting location and the show never disappoints.
After the great year we had, where we enjoyed seeing our horses triumph from one end of the globe to the other, we were especially hopeful that Paris would end as the year began. And again, we were not disappointed!
Philip Hosay, his team, and the Al Khalediah Family arrived in Paris with several representatives from the Michael Byatt Arabians marketing program. The headliner, Dakharo, acquired from MBA in 2005, was the leading contender for the stallion championship, winning major titles throughout the year. But in his way was the glamorous entry from the Ajman Stud, Escape Ibn Navarrone - a former World Champion. On Sunday, the air thick with excitement, the anticipation excruciating, the announcement was made, Dakharo, was named the World Champion Stallion!
Another proud moment for Michael Byatt Arabians was when a Dakharo daughter was named World Champion Filly, that being Layyan Al Khalediah. It is a goal we strive for; sell great horses that can win in the show, but breed great horses as well. Dakharo as World Champion Stallion and Layyan as the World Champion Filly proved our vision!

MBA also was honored to have marketed and presented the Reserve World Champion Filly, Venetzia, for Al Shaqab - our friends from Qatar. Venetzia had a great year leading up to the World Championships winning titles in Doha, Menton, Borgloon, and Aachen.

In the colt division two sons of Marwan Al Shaqab took the Championship and Reserve spots - Marajj and Marquis respectively. Marajj was beautifully presented by Scott Allman for Shk Mohammed al Qasimi. There is no better sportsman that Shk Mohammed and we congratulate him on this wonderful win. Marquis, a big winner year after year, selected by Michael Byatt Arabians for Al Khaledia as a yearling had a great run - winning the preliminaries and taking the second spot in the final round. Congratulations to all parties!
2007 was the best year ever for Michael Byatt Arabians. Starting with Scottsdale where MBA presented the Supreme Champion, Aria Impressario, to the World Championships, where we witnessed Dakharo's triumph we are thankful to everyone who believed in our program and represented us so well. We wish safe travels, great health, and happiness to all.

Menton, France
It is not often when every one of the Champions at one of the most prestigious horse shows in the World come through one farm. This year, the Menton show, which is also part of the prestigious Dubai Gold Cup, all 4 did, at one time or another call Michael Byatt Arabians their home.
Congratulations to Al Shaqab Farm for their win with Venetzia. Venetzia, acquired through Michael Byatt last fall, was the Junior Champion Filly and the Best Female in the show. (She was also the Qatar National Champion Filly) Congratulations also to Marquis, owned by Al Khalediah Farm, for making it two in a row. By being named the Junior Champion Colt, Marquis claimed the title for a second time. Claiming the Reserve title was the beautiful Al Shaqab owned Mardigras JMF! Making the colt winners a two time win for Marwan Al Shaqab! Also to Al Khalediah went the Champion stallion title for the great Dakharo. Fresh from his unanimous win in Las Vegas, Dakharo proved he has the heart, style, and beauty to win everywhere! Dakharo was also Best in Show for the males.
And lastly to the Champion Mare, Om El Shadina a mare we marketed in 2004 and have retained two of her sons for our breeding program. Watch for her sons by Marwan Al Shaqab and Dreamcatcher SMF in the future!

The All Nations Cup is one of the most prestigious Events on the Arabian horse show calendar. Exhibitors, owners, breeders, and enthusiasts from all corners of the planet, descend on this town, which is tucked away in the corner of western Germany, for the annual fall exhibition.
This was the 25th anniversary of the show and the show committee had many special surprises in store for the crowd. Several past champions were present for the gala dinner on Saturday evening; it was great to have a view of the past. The catalog was supplemented with a program showing all the winners from the past shows. It was a treat for us at Michael Byatt Arabians to walk through the Nations Cup history, as it has surely been part of ours. At the Nations Cup show in 1982, 3 of the 4 Champions were presented by Michael Byatt, for good friends Hans and Cecilia Bourghardt. Seeing their pictures brought back great memories of the days spent in Sweden with the Bourghardts. It was also wonderful to see, at the Saturday evening Gala dinner, Medalj, a stallion that Michael Byatt presented at the Nations Cup show in 1994 to the stallion championship.
This year the competition was up to the usual standard. The mood was good; the crowds were festive. Michael Byatt Arabians was pleased to be present to exhibit once again for our friends from Qatar; the Al Shaqab Stud. Mardigras, a near look alike son of the world famous Marwan Al Shaqab, was on hand again to defend the championship he won in 2006. And it was to be Mardigras, who did what no other colt in the history of the show has done, claiming the title for a second consecutive year.
In the filly competition Al Shaqab earned top honors in the two year old class with the Marwan daughter PS Rose of Marwan. Already a champion at many shows, including Scottsdale, Arizona, "Rose" was presented by Giaccomo Capacci to her win. In the three year old class it was the filly Venetzia who would carry the Al Shaqab banner into the ring. With wins in Doha, Menton, and Borgloon a lot was expected and she did not disappoint. Taking the class and then the Championship, Venetzia continues to add wins to her stellar record. Michael Byatt did the honors in presenting her. The beautiful Abha Opalina, owned by our good friend Marieta Salas was a very deserving Reserve in this strong field. She was well presented by Philip Looyens.
Congratulations to all the competitors, organizers, judges, and breeders for a great show. We look forward to many years of continued participation.
We wish each and all safe travels and happy trails.
