Junior Champion Colt at the Al Khalediah Horse Festival 2010

Let’s get right to the news. Michael Byatt Arabians had a very successful 2010 Scottsdale All Arabian Horse show! Just as in a long awards show there are so many people to thank for the outcome. Success is rarely a singular effort. Michael Byatt Arabians begins by thanking our staff, all of them, for without them these shows could not happen. Then, we have to thank the show itself, our wonderful clients, the judges, and lastly but very importantly the horses themselves. They are a gift beyond measure. So, the results; Junior Champion Colt, Champion Mare, Champion Stallion, Reserve Champion Stallion, and Supreme Champion of the show! And even more remarkable each of these champions carries the blood of our program through the living legends Gazal Al Shaqab and Marwan Al Shaqab. Years ago we decided to concentrate on a breeding program from which the horses we would show would come. Here we are today with the vision of our efforts being rewarded.
Michael Byatt Arabians is truly blessed to have had the opportunity to acquire such important bloodstock over the years; from Anaza El Farid to Kajora and now to their super star progeny, Marwan and Gazal. (Marwan and Gazal are owned by Al Shaqab – we thank them for their generosity in allowing these amazing horses to live in America) Coupled with the Ali Jamaal blood we have utilized through Parys El Jamaal and Besson, and the exotic ZT Shakfantasy, who we stood nearly a decade ago, these forces have combined to produce what is today an array of winners across the globe that is unparalleled. Let’s look at the globe and realize what the influence of the Michael Byatt Arabians program has done, not just at Scottsdale but the world over. But let’s start with Scottsdale!
A glance over the front lines of winners at Scottsdale 2010 looked like a poster for the efforts of Michael Byatt to bring his vision into the American ring. Starting with the 3 year old filly, Forever Fleurtatious we found a Marwan daughter taking the first place honors. Moving on to the 4 year old mare class, Abha Palma, a daughter of Marwan took the top spot. The 6 and 7 year old mare class was won the beautiful Pinga, a daughter of Gazal Al Shaqab. For the males, the three year old class was won by OFW Magic Wan, a son of Marwan Al Shaqab. The 4 year old class was won by SF Veraz by Gazal Al Shaqab with Magnifico Al Marwan in the second spot. The five year old class was won by RHR Marcedes by Marwan Al Shaqab while the 6 and 7 year old class was won by the Marwan son, EKS Bey AL Gazal. Incidentally, EKS Bey Al Gazal is out of a Gazal Al Shaqab daughter making him one of the most interesting breeding prospects in the world.
And then to the Championships. Onitelav, the Junior Champion Colt, is by DA Valentino and out of a Marwan daughter. Abha Palma the Champion Mare and Supreme Champion plus EKS Bey Al Gazal, the Champion Stallion and OFW Magic Wan the Reserve Champion Stallion are all by Marwan. All of these wins combined to make Marwan Al Shaqab the leading sire of the show for the third consecutive year! Michael Byatt Arabians is truly appreciative and blessed to have had so many people over the years join together in breeding these exquisite Arabian horses. Congratulations to the breeders of these champions, Royal Arabians, Marieta Salas, The Brown Family, and Orrion Farms.
And for a look beyond our borders we will travel to all parts of the planet. This year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia a Besson son out of a Marwan daughter was named the Champion colt in his first ever outing. His name is Fadi Al Shaqab. In Brazil, Marwan progeny absolutely dominated the competition, at their National Championships, capturing both the Champion and Reserve Mare and Stallion. Of particular note the Champion Stallion was Fl El Shawan, is by Marwan and ou t of a ZT Shakfantasy daughter. In Paris, at the World Championships for the 3rd consecutive year a Marwan son was named World Champion Colt and for the second year in a row a Marwan daughter was named World Champion Filly. They are Marajj, Baanderos (out of a Besson daughter), and Abha Qatar for the colts. The fillies were Abha Palma and Najdah Al Zobair. Further to this unbelievable dominance is the fact the each year the Reserve Champion Colt at the Paris World Championships also carried the blood of Marwan. The Reserves were Marquis, QR Marc, and a Marwan grandson through Marajj named Maharaja HDM. Princess of Marwan, a US National Champion Filly in 2008 was reserve to Abha Palma in the filly division in 2008.
In Ecuador the colt Maarjan, out of one of our foundation mares Majalis by Ali Jamaal has been the Supreme Champion. In South Africa in addition to the success of EKS Bey Al Gazal, t here have been other champions, Desha Marbey, Georgetown, and the wonderful Phaedraa, out of our Parys daughter Patrina De Parys. All by Marwan and Gazal.
It is possible to go on and on, these horses have been that influential to the breed. But let’s travel back to Scottsdale and finish this tale. The winners, the horses that were sold, the camaraderie shared, make Scottsdale a truly unique and experience. And to add just one more layer of icing, this year Michael Byatt Arabians was able to team up with Andy Sellman and his crew of Argent Farms to rent a facility, host parties, sell horses, and cherish the fact that we all have being able to participate in such a wonderful endeavor.
Ever since Michael Byatt began participating at the Scottsdale show, way back when the show was at McCormick Park, it has always been one of the most special events on the Arabian Horse Calendar. Put it on yours and join Michael and his crew at the 2011 show – it will be worth your while! |
